Starrett

The L.S. Starrett Company is one of the oldest and most respected manufacturers of precision tools in the world. Known simply as Starrett, the company has played a pivotal role in shaping modern machining, metalworking, and metrology through its high-quality measuring tools, saw blades, and machine shop equipment.

Founded 1880 in Athol, MA, a small sleepy town where the headquarters are still located today. Laroy S. Starrett, a skilled mechanic and inventor, started the company after patenting the first combination square, a tool that became essential in layout and measuring work. This tool set the foundation for Starrett’s reputation for innovation in precision measuring instruments.
