Determine the final nut/fingerboard width, enter the desired width (1), margin adjustments (2) and correct any string diameters (6) if required. On steel string guitars one might locate the high E around .125 (1/8) inch from the edge to the string centerline, leaving for example, an outside margin of .120 (on a .010 diameter high E). Nylon/Classical guitars usually go wider on the margins (and overall nut/fingerboard width). Distance between the outside “E” string centerlines is represented by E< variable >E.
